Clive Montellier, aka King of the Rocket Men, spent his culturally dislocated teenage years in 1970s suburbia, before finding a home for his 1950s musical tastes in the local Rock n Roll clubs.
He spent the 1980s bopping madly in various North London rockin’ venues, adding a love for rockabilly and rhythm & blues to classic rock’n’roll.
He has a lifelong fascination for every aspect of midcentury culture, from social history through architecture and design, literature, and beat poetry to west coast jazz.
Having amassed a library of music and film on LP, CD and tape, he caught the original vinyl collection bug from wife, Jane, before turning to become a DJ to share his passion for rockin’ music with others.
He has various regular engagements at venues in Gloucestershire and Bristol, with forays back to his roots in London when the chance arises, still bopping madly.
He is a regular contributor to Now Dig This magazine and has his own blog on midcenturychap.com
